The authors of the article analyze the consequences of the forcible displacement for the abandoned territories that became empty as well as for the social, cultural and demographic development of the deported peoples. The forcible deportation of the Northern Caucasus peoples became an important factor of diasporization. Adaptive strategies of the deported peoples into the host community are being under this study and socio-cultural mechanisms of the adaptation have been revealed. In the deportation period the particular thirst of the deported peoples for knowledge and obtaining the professions requiring high level of education was shown. The forcible deportation turned out to be not only the factor of diasporization but gave an impulse for modernization of the displaced peoples in which they actively entered after returning to their homelands and re- establishing of their national statehood. The accumulated in the deportation period socio-cultural experience of the deported peoples played an important part in the modernization processes of the following time.
