ALMAHSID KANUKOV’S ETNOGRAPHIC SKETCHES

In article the scientific contribution of the representative of the Ossetian intellectuals of Almahsid Kanukov to development of a pre-revolutionary ethnographic osetinovedeniye reveals. The purpose of article is consideration of ethnographic sketches А. Kanukova. The main problem-thematic areas of in the ethnographic notes of А. Kanukova were: calendar rites, religious ideology, Christianity, Holy, memorial ceremonies. The author found that А. Kanukov as sources often used the materials of oral national creativity of Ossetians, some of which were cited for the first time. The author concluded that publication and. Kanukova in Caucasian periodicals had a large ethnographic value. The author noted the weaknesses of ethnographic essays of А. Kanukova, that he merely described the calendar ceremonies, without trying to analyze it.
