CITY HOLYDAYS: ANNIVERSARY LITERARY CELEBRATION AS A MECHANISM OF INTEGRATION OF OSSETIA IN SOCIOCULTURAL SPACE OF RUSSIA (THE SECOND HALF OF XIX – EARLY XX CENTURIES)

The article investigates the problem of holiday as a social phenomenon, promoting ethno-cultural integration and structuring of the cultural life of society. The research objects are urban festivals devoted to anniversaries of Russian literature representatives and conducted in Ossetia during the second half of XIX – early XX centuries, the subject of study – their impact on the process of integration of Ossetia in cultural and social space of Russia. The author investigates jubilee celebrations as an effective administrative mechanism by which the imperial administration was working on consciousness highlanders, strengthening it certain cultural and ideological system of values ​​corresponding to Russia’s national interests. They played an important role in the integration of traditional Ossetian culture, which has undergone significant changes in the post-reform modernization, in social and cultural space of Russia.
