The characteristic is given to process of accession of the Kazakh steppes to the Russian Empire from military and civil researchers. Degree of study of a subject is considered, available gaps in its studying are noted. Importance of comprehensive study of the Kazakh steppe is shown by various authors. In various treatment events and the facts of the period of accession which lasted one and a half centuries are considered. By consideration of this problem the question by how favorable action for the Russian Empire is considered there was an accession of new Kazakh territories? The characteristic is given to leaders of Kazakhs. The detailed characteristic of leaders of Kazakhs. Valuable historiographic sources on stories of accession of the Kazakh shoes to the Russian Empire (diplomatic materials, a donosheniye, official reports, reports of officials, traveling diaries, works of military officers) both with political, and from the culturological point of view are considered and analysed.
