In this article, on the basis of archival and published sources, analyze the complex process of the formation of agricultural entrepreneurship in Western Siberia in the late XIX - early XX centuries. The author examines the basic conditions of a business in the agricultural sector in the region (the presence of land resources, well-developed economic infrastructure, the support of local authorities and administration). Attention is focused on the perceptions of rural entrepreneurs representatives of Siberian society in the beginning of the modernization process. The specificity of the formation of the conflict consciousness among the local population of the community. Emphasizes the importance of rural entrepreneurs in the production and processing of agricultural production in Western Siberia, their organizational and economic innovation. It is concluded that rural entrepreneurs were “market enzyme” that changed the Siberian society, and at the same time they have experienced the most powerful external influence on the part of the host society.
