«LIBRARY SERVICE» MERCHANTS ORGANIZATIONS AS PART OF CULTURAL EDUCATION IN RUSSIAN PROVINCE IN THE LATE XIX – EARLY XX CENTURY (ON THE MATERIALS PROVINCES CENTRAL BLACK EARTH)

The article reviews the activities of libraries built merchant corporate companies as an important segment of the cultural and educational initiatives of this estate in the late XIX – early XX century. Based on the analysis of the annual reports of merchant organizations Kursk, Voronezh, Orel, Tambov provinces, as well as rare books library catalogs, studied education “possibility” of libraries, outlines the main directions of the “library service”, the order of the use of libraries, a quantitative and meaningful assessment of the book and coffee fund libraries, shows the evolution of attendance libraries, library material security, including directions and shows how their funding merchant societies, revealed the size of salaries of librarians, the characteristic of “property complex of libraries”.
