ETHNOHISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT OF RUSSIAN POPULATION BASHKORTOSTAN: PROBLEMS OF INTERPRETATION

This article discusses features of the formation and development of Russian ethno-historical population of Bashkortostan in the light of various interpretations of statistical sources. The author considers the current state of science on the issue and pays particular attention to the search for domestic researchers methodological techniques that are adequate to the complexity of the phenomena. The article describes the transformation of the national identity of non-Russian peoples of Bashkortostan, converts to Orthodoxy (Mordovians) and adherents of Islam (Bashkiria). The author of a relationship between the level of spatial mobility of the indigenous population of Bashkortostan and the process of transformation of national identity. Particular attention is drawn to the christianization of the non-Russian peoples of Bashkortostan and intermarriage, as factors in the loss of national identity.
